Old News!
9/29/07
Straitjacket is not dead. Just separated by thousands of miles! Since we didn't hit it big on the last album, we had to keep working at our stupid jobs. Unfortunately, Brian's job has him working on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. This makes practicing very inconvenient! Don't worry the band will be reunited as soon as possible and we'll be back with a vengeance! Stay tuned for more details...
12/8/06

Recording and mixing for our new album "Modern Thieves" has been completed, and will have 13 songs available on TKO Records in May. We are also excited to announce that the vinyl version of the album will handled by our friends at Jonny Cat Records here in Portland. We think this recording was the most fun we've ever had in the studio and it shows in the sound. You can check out two new songs from the album on the MP3's page.
We just got our copies of the new Straitjacket/ Shock Nagasaki split 7" and it sounds great. The vinyl is half purple/ half black! You can order now it from the: TKO Webstore

Well a new year is here, and and a lot will be going on with Straitjacket. We are halfway done recording for our upcoming full length CD on TKO Records which will be released in May. There will also be a vinyl LP version on a different label, and we are currently working out the details of that.
We also have a split 7" single coming out in February on TKO Records with a great band from New York called Shock Nagasaki. First pressing is 1000 on black and purple vinyl. Here's the cover:
Our new 7" single "Enemy" on Jonny Cat Records should be officially released this month. We had 50 copies with us on tour in September, but those are the only ones that have seen the light of day so far. First pressing is 400 on white vinyl. You can hear "Enemy" on the MP3's page.
We will also be doing a US tour in support of our upcoming full length for about three weeks in late April/ early May, as well as doing shows down south in California, and up north here in Portland, and Seattle, Vancouver BC, etc. We're coming to your town soon!
11/16/04
We've been talking about our upcoming full length for quite a while now, and we're very excited to finally announce that it will be released on none other than TKO Records! We feel like TKO has a real down to earth approach, while working very hard for the bands they release. We do this because we love the music, and we're excited to find a label that shares the same attitude. Stay tuned...
11/11/04
Finally, I can do an update. A computer crash resulted in a long absence, but we're back! First of all the tour in September was great. Thanks to all the bands and friends that helped us set up shows, fed us, and let us sleep on their floors.
We're currently working like mad to get everything ready for our upcoming full length, which should be out in April along with a US tour in support. There's also a split 7" in the works with one of our future label mates that might be out before the full-length. More details on all this soon.
The street date for the release of our new "Enemy" 7" on Jonny Cat Records, is November 18th. You can hear one of the songs on the MP3'S page. It will be in stores and distros all over the US and Europe so keep and eye out.
That's all for now!

We are working on writing the last few songs for our upcoming full length which will be available on vinyl and CD. The vinyl and CD releases will be handled separately by two of the best record labels around. More info soon..
5/30/04 The Jonny Cat Records 7" should be out in a few months, and the TKO Records "Portland Scene Report" CD compilation is probably looking more like a September release. We are planning to record a full length for a yet to be disclosed label later this year.
The documentary movie "O.T." will premier this Friday as a part of the "Proven in the NW" film festival at the Hollywood Theatre here in Portland. Our songs included in the soundtrack are: "Charlatans", "Enemy", and "The Loudest Voice".

From punknews.org: Pelado Records and Dead Rock Records are announcing the re-issue of the acclaimed "The Loudest Voice" 7" by Portland's Straitjacket. In other news, the recording and mixing for the upcoming Jonny Cat Records 7" and for the TKO Records "Portland Scene Report" CD comp. is done. Look for the 7" early June, and the comp. in August. We are talking to a few different labels about doing a full length later this year so stay tuned for an announcement soon.
Also the two songs "Charlatans" and "Enemy" will be featured in an upcoming documentary. The film's called O.T. and it's basically about skateboarders over the age of thirty that have stuck with skateboarding through the bad years, marriages, kids and "normal" jobs simply because they love the sport.
3/30/04 Two shows in Portland this week check the shows page.
3/23/04 Finished mixing yesterday, here are a couple of the new songs to check out. (They may take 20-30 seconds to load).
